Michael Harper

Michael Harper joined the BLAM Lab as a research assistant in August 2015.

Before developing an interest in science, Michael planned to become a professional musician. He earned a Bachelor of Music in Cello Performance from Vanderbilt University in 2012. He then continued his studies at the University of Michigan, earning masters’ degrees in cello performance and chamber music in 2014.

During his graduate studies at Michigan, Michael developed a passion for music cognition and the neuroscience of hearing. He was fascinated by this new perspective on music, and after much deliberation decided to pursue a career in medicine. Upon completion of his graduate degrees, Michael attended the Johns Hopkins Post-Baccalaureate Premedical Program. He completed his studies at Hopkins in June 2015 and with any luck will begin medical school in 2016.
